-Parents of students that attend school on a hybrid day must log onto Genesis and fill out the COVID-19 safety check form by 7:10 am.(We are in this together. It is very important that if anyone feels sick that they stay home and contact a doctor.)

-I would like to remind everyone on page 14 of the Grant School Handbook:

All students will be required to wear a mask while they are in school. The South Plainfield School District will provide a reusable solid green mask for each of the students on their first day of in person learning. Students may wear their own mask, but it must be a solid color or have South Plainfield logo on it. All students are expected to wear masks and follow the social distancing protocols in the classrooms and hallways. Any student choosing not to follow the safety protocols, facial masks, etc., will not be able to continue attending in person instruction. This is for the safety of the individual student and the school community as a whole.

-All students may remain virtual at this time. If you decide to switch your student to hybrid, you must email Mr. Sarullo, psarullo@spboe.org, directly. The office staff will then contact you and notify the teachers.

Grant School Schedule effective Tuesday (1/19)

Parents & Guardians:

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and enjoyed the break. I am requesting that you speak with your child regarding "Google Meets". It has come to my attention that students are using the school network to meet up with other students after school hours. Please advise your child that this is not permitted. Students are to only use a "Google Meet" when assigned by a teacher and should not be meeting up unless directed by the teacher. Our technology can track all student accounts that log into a meet with specific times. If a student is found to be using a school "Google Meet" when not instructed, this may be addressed under the code of conduct with regards to inappropriate use of technology. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. This message will also be posted for the students in my Google Classroom.

Thank you,

Mr. Sarullo, Grant School Principal

---------- Grant School Guidance:

-Please have your child check the Guidance classroom daily for tips and strategies regarding virtual learning, social-emotional learning, and self-care during these unprecedented times. Guidance is here to help support your child emotionally and academically.
-Guidance Google Classroom: https://meet.google.com/lookup/fg4ghbrkhd?authuser=0&hs=179

-Mindfulness Mondays will take place during snack periods. Information will be shared on Mr. Sarullo's and Guidance Classroom.
-Even though the Grant School Library is closed during our hybrid instructional period, students can access books remotely through the South Plainfield Public Library.  Mrs. Alongi has partnered with the public library to ensure our students are aware of how to obtain their very own library card.

With a library card, students can borrow print books, audiobooks and ebooks owned by the public library and other libraries in the area.  If one is waiting for a book to be returned and available, Hoopla is a great alternative that allows a card holder to borrow movies, music, audiobooks, ebooks, comics and to enjoy on any device.  With no waiting, titles can be streamed immediately, or downloaded to phones or tablets for offline enjoyment later.

Many of our students enjoy using, Epic! . Epic! Books is a digital library of over 40,000 fiction and nonfiction titles which students can access for free during the school hours of 7:00 am - 4:00 pm.  Students do need to use our school code which was provided to students. If you need assistance with the code, please contact Mrs. Alongi kalongi@spboe.org

Mrs. Alongi is  working diligently to get books in the hands of students to promote the enjoyment of reading. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. ----------
